Here are some of the most popular trends when it comes to hats.

The fedora is popular with both men and women. A woman may wear a black fedora with a simple pencil skirt and blouse. Or she can pair the hat with a beloved pair of jeans and a sweater. A black or gray fedora goes well with many types of casual outfits for women. Alternatively, men are putting on a fedora when they want to wear jeans and a t-shirt to a club. He may match a fedora with his favorite leather jacket. A fedora is a versatile hat with a design that can add a dash of style to any outfit.

A western hat is another piece of head wear that is gaining in popularity. They aren't just for cowboys anymore! Women who want to put on their favorite pair of cowboy boots and go out for the night can emphasize the look with a western hat in brown or black. A man can put on a western hat with a barn jacket or leather coat to make the look even more memorable. Western hats with silver adornments or a leather strap around the crown are ideal for men and women who want to go a step further with the look. In addition, men and women often choose western hats that are crushable so they have no problem packing the hat away for a trip or vacation.

The driver's cap is also a favorable option for many men and women. A plaid driver's cap paired with a simple trench coat can give a woman a stylish look even if she is just out to run errands. Where to buy Kufi hats

Kufi hats are normally worn by Muslim men - but I would argue that they can be worn by ANYONE.

A friend of mine who teaches archery in Toronto is even looking to get one, just so his hair won't get in his eyes while he is trying to aim. So I could see it being useful for many people.

A Kufi hat is essentially a crochet toque with ample holes in it, designed so it keeps your hair in place, but isn't really hot - so you can wear it even on hot days.

Some Kufi hats have more holes than other Kufi hats - so there is some room for flexibility if you want one that is a tad warmer.

They even look really great on kids (boys and girls!), in a variety of different colours.

The only problem is WHERE to buy them. Online is a possibility. If you know of stores that cater to Muslim men and women, that is a good option too. I myself have only found one place that sells them (a Muslim book store), but there has to be many more places.

That statement many guys make of “I don't suit hats” should be erased, as there’s various hat styles for men out there which suit anyone's preference. With trends like the preppy trend starting to see more involvement of mens hats such as Trilbys, various designers are also including hats into there catwalks and collections.

What to wear on a hot windy day

Knowing what to wear on a hot day that is also windy can be a challenge. The following is my list of recommendations:

#1. A knitted hat or knitted hair net.

Why? Because it will keep your hair from flying all over the place, its stylish, not uncomfortably hot, and unlike broad brim hats it won't fly away in the gusts.

I would argue it even looks good on men. (Muslim wear a Kufi hat that is basically a knitted hair net.)

#2. Loose fitting shirt or blouse.

Depending on how hot it is you might even want to go topless (cause hey, its Canada and its legal), but going topless isn't FASHION (unless you count tattoos...) so instead I am recommending the loose fitting shirt.

Some of you might even want to go RETRO and get an 80s style tank top, but that is really your choice.

I am however going to recommend that the shirt be so loose that you can pull it over one shoulder and leave one shoulder exposed. Why? Because it was hot in the 1980s and its still freaking hot today.

In the wind a loose shirt will blow around a lot, but at least it will have a cooling effect on you.

#3. Shorts or Mini Skirt

Or even a Skort. It doesn't really matter. I try to find something with lots of tiny pockets because you can never have too many pockets in your shorts.

#4. Sandals

I hate sandals. They hurt my feet. But they're still better than going barefoot in the summer. (And again, this is a fashion blog.)

My advice is to BORROW sandals from friends and try to find a pair you like that don't hurt your feet. Trying sandals on in a store you won't really know whether they hurt your feet unless you walk a proverbial mile in them.

It doesn't really matter what brand the sandals are (but please avoid flip flops and Crocs), comfort should come first when choosing a sandal that is right for you because otherwise they can dig into your feet and hurt. (Its basically the same reason I don't like high heels.)

#5. Sunblock that is sweat resistant. Remember to reapply every 2 or 3 hours.

#6. If traveling through mosquito infested regions I recommend "Muskol" mosquito repellent.

Fashion Vs Silly Gossip

FASHION - Why do fashion magazines often have gossip about celebrities in them?

To me it would make more sense (and appeal to more women's brains) if the magazines contained more feminism or politics. Issues that people can really talk about, discuss and try to change things to make the world a better place.

Gossiping about which celebrity is pregnant and who they are sleeping around with isn't going to change anything. That stuff never changes.

In other news I've noticed a lot more celebrities are now wearing cowboy hats casually... now if only we could get the politicians and feminists to wear more cowboy hats eh?

Just kidding, I know that will never happen.

But I do think there is some politicians and feminists who could use makeovers to make them look more professional.

Cowboy Hats back in fashion

FASHION - My friends and I think cowboy hats are coming back into style. We think its because of the film True Grit but maybe its just a cyclical thing. (We also think the film 'Country Strong' might have something to do with it, even though we HATE that film.)

Shown here is a Stetson black cowboy hat. Stetson was the inventor of the cowboy hat and is still considered the best company when it comes to making cowboy hats. (Like Levis inventing jeans.)

The thing about cowboy hats is that they can be quite stylish, while simultaneously looking adventurous.

I think the mere fact Emma Watson is wearing a cowboy hat signifies it has gained a wider acceptance as a fashion item, similar to how fedoras, swisses and hamburgs are so popular right now. See Mens Hats.
